Yes folks, it’s that time of the year. Lambing closes two key tracks 8 August to 15 October 2026 within Te Ara Pātaka track network - Mt Herbert Walkway (Diamond Harbour to Mt Herbert) and Monument North (Purau Port Levy Saddle to Little Mt Herbert). Monument South and Faulkner Track also remain closed due to large slips, but Faulkner Track is currently being repaired (yay!). Don't be tempted to use closed tracks, it jeopardises the ability for the public to access these tracks in the future. For more detail see below. Te Ara Pātaka Lambing Closures 2026 8 August - 15 October Te Ara Pātaka will remain open from Gebbies Pass to Hilltop and via Orton Bradley Valley Track. Packhorse Hut and Rod Donald Hut can be booked as normal.
